The domain name you choose for your website is an important decision. This plays a role in how visitors perceive your website. It also influences how search engines rank your site. In the space I have in this article I will touch on a few domain name suggestions. Make sure you check out the last paragraph to learn where you can find important information about naming your website.

A lot of the time when choosing a name for your
website you will find that the site name you want is already taken. While this is disappointing it can easily be addressed by working with some of the following variations.
  1. Add 'site' to the end. For example, if you want 'dogtraining' and it is already taken then try 'dogtrainingsite'. This is a very common technique.
  2. Add the word 'online'. This can be put wherever it makes sense. For example you could use variations such as onlineworkouts, trainonline, or exerciseonlinenow.
  3. Another common domain name suggestion is to add 's' for plural. Sometimes simply using the plural form of a word is enough. If 'easydiet' is taken you can always try 'easydiets'.
  4. The word 'hub' is a popular suffix. Using this implies your site is the center of related activity such as 'electronicreviewshub', or 'socialnetworkinghub'.
  5. If your site provides timely or current information a good domain name suggestion is to use the word 'news'. For example, 'hollywoodnews' or 'electronicsnews'.
  6. If you provide mainly product information you can use the word 'reviews' such as 'foreigncarreviews' or 'reviewsforsurfers'. This is a common technique used with affiliate marketing.
  7. Another domain name suggestions is to use your own name or a variation of it. For example, 'jimsreviews', or 'jensthoughts'. This can give your website a more personal touch.
  8. If you are using a multi word name you can separate the words with hyphens. For example if learnbasketweavingnow is taken you can always go with learn-basket-weaving-now.
  9. Consider using similar words or synonyms to replace some of the words you want. If 'makemoney' is taken you can try 'earnmoney' or 'createincome'.
  10. If you still can't find your ideal name consider different extensions such as.com,.org,.net,.info, or.biz. If you are targeting a local market then you can consider using your country specific extension.
With these domain name suggestions you should be able to find what you are looking for - just keep trying variations until you get one that you like.

Start a Phone Answering Service

An Indian call centerImage via Wikipedia
By Julia Derby

A phone answering service is one of the most simple home based businesses to set up and run. There is an increasing demand for phone answering services from small businesses and professionals who are unable to answer the phone themselves during working hours. Customers have become seriously frustrated with having to deal with voice mails and automated answering systems when they just want to talk to an actual human being. There is growing evidence that a live phone operator is best for business and that many missed business opportunities arise from not having a person on the other end of the phone.

What does an answering business involve?

A basic answering service involves answering calls for the client and taking a clear message that is then communicated, usually via email, to the client. Some phone answering services include providing information on the client's products and services including pricing, taking orders for the client and answering queries. The business needs for an answering service vary. Some businesses require the service during working hours, others need the phone answered after hours and over weekends and some only require the service for part of the day.

What do I need to start an answering service business?

The amount of equipment you need depends on how many clients you take on. A simple way to start is to install a separate phone line for each client which costs between $100 - $200 depending on where you are situated. When you want to expand your phone answering business you can research the viability of leasing a switchboard from your local phone company. You will also need a home computer with broadband connection for message sending. You will need to have a quiet work space where you will not be disturbed during the hours you have contracted to answer the phone.

How will I find clients for my answering business?

You will need to go out and get clients but there are a wide range of businesses who would potentially use your service and a number of affordable ways to reach them. Your most likely target market are small business owners and sole proprietors who do not have the resources to take calls during business hours when they are out working. Another good source of clients are professionals who are busy with their own clients and unable to interrupt with phone calls. Local advertising and online advertising are both effective marketing tools.

How much money can I make with an answering service?

This depends on the number of clients you have and the hours you are prepared to work. It will also be determined by the area in which you are operating. Generally a client pays a set amount for a certain number of phone calls per month. Additional calls are charged at a set rate. You can also charge extra for additional services such as order taking, appointment scheduling and conducting surveys.

There is a growing demand for reliable and efficient phone answering services. Businesses increasingly outsource this function as customers grow tired of technological replacements for a real person on the other end of the phone. Customers do not like to talk to a machine and are likely to just move on to the next competitor when they cannot reach a human that can actually answer their questions or provide information for them. This can be a profitable home business income opportunity.

By Brandon Hensinger

Before you Start a Home Based Business

If you really want to work at home, just like millions of other people do, perhaps you should take a few minutes to consider some of the impacts it will have on your life before moving forward with your entrepreneurial endeavors.

It's not for everyone! Just remember that not everyone is cut out for working at home. It takes a lot of hard work, focus and determination in order to make your home based business succeed, and not everyone has the patience and personality to do this. Be sure that you have the right work ethics and tenacity before deciding to go for it.

You're in for the long haul Success in your home based business will not come overnight; indeed, it may take several months or even a year before you really start to see the results you hope for. Bear in mind that many businesses can take up to three years before seeing a real profit, so you will need to remain focused for a long time.

It's hard work There are no two ways about it - Running your own business, even in the comfort of your own home is going to be very hard work. You might think that by running a home based business, you're set to have the freedom to choose when you want to work. And you'd be right, but this takes time. You will need to work very hard before you gain this kind of freedom. At first, it might be that you have to put in even more hours than you did with your old job, but don't give up! Through hard work you will slowly but surely build up to the kind of success that really affords you true freedom.

It's going to cost something... No matter what your business is, when you first start up there are going to be expenses involved with it. These expenses may even amount to more than what you have initially prepared to invest - You're going to need marketing materials, office supplies and so on, and there will be advertising costs, fees for your website, internet and phone bills, the list goes on! Just try and be ready for these expenses, don't go jumping in feet first without knowing what your business running costs are likely to be. However, you can most definitely seek out ideas and already constructed business opportunities that cost very little.

You need a good idea! Your idea has to be one that will make you money, so you're going to need to provide a service that people need, whether that is affiliate marketing, writing, researching or even remote secretarial work.
